I will admit that this is my second blog. My first one, Random Thoughts and Ponderings, died along with the Christian homeschool social network, JibeNow. It and all four of my posts. I didn't use that blog much. But I didn't have the many post-worthy thoughts that I now have. Thus, do not fear as I will be posting much more often than before. Which was not at all.
Before I end this post, I would like to spend some time elucidating the title and the rather lame, poetically-failing excuse for a description. First, the title.
This past year, I wrote a speech on the cultural movement of tolerance...and how it was lower than the dirt upon which I laboriously stride six days out of seven. It is that bad. Of course, I don't think the majority of people would appreciate my viewpoint. Anywho, I gave this speech over and over and over again (only after revising it repeatedly the day before script submission). After my final round, I realized that I wasn't ready to be done with my speech. I felt that this was a message that should be proclaimed everywhere and that I hadn't done my best to proclaim it. This discovery led me to another: I like going against the culture. Speaking on things that are culturally controversial and charged with some sort of dastardly ism (according to the culture) were extremely pleasing to me. Consequently, when I started this blog, I chose a name, that to me, reflects this personal pleasure. Culture shock, formally defined, means "a sense of confusion and uncertainty sometimes with feelings of anxiety that may affect people exposed to an alien culture or environment without adequate preparation." Yet this anxiety will not be felt by me. It will be felt by those who hear my voice as I proclaim the Truth. The culture shall be the one with culture shock. And that is where the name comes from.
:takes deep breath:
Now for the description. I wanted something that was poetic, related to the title, and reflected the fact that I am only going to talk about whatever strikes my fancy. And that is where the description comes from.
Congratulations. You have reached the end of my first, long-winded, rambling blog post. There shall be another one soon.
:cue evil laugh with devilish grin and creepy hand wringing and...okay I'm stopping:
Just saw the link from FB, so Hullo.
ReplyDeleteAnalyzing new worldviews and -isms is such a healthy challenge for the Christian --- especially when they appear at first to possess strong pros and viable explanations for the existential questions. You ought to post on (and break down) Utilitarianism sometime. It has a dangerously appealing alternative explanation for natural law, along with some extensive logical flaws that defy boundaries.
Looking forward to seeing what's coming!
